Well, our new closing date was supposed to be the 25th of this month. I see it coming and going without a house. We have not heard back from the seller about dropping the purchase price. We haven't been contacted by the HUD consultant about our new rehab loan amount. We have heard from the city inspector, who informed us that the seller (the unfeeling megabank) has not actually paid the vacant building fee ($1000). That's it for the update. And today's photo is not someone jumping through a hoop, but rather twirling around in the same hoop. Over and over and over. Over and out.

This is your opportunity. Get outta Dodge fast! You've gone from a 40k house to a 80+k house with no real end in sight. Everybody but you has reneged, so you ought to be able to get your earnest $$ back.
Talked to Midge last night. She may call you- I hope she does. She has tales about rental property in S. FL and awful inspectors. You cannot win with them. You have no recourse but to do what they say. She thinks that old a house may have other expensive problems once you are in it and stuck with it.
Renew your search. She thinks the market will turn worse (in your favor) before it gets better.
Don't fall into the trap of thinking how much time and emotional energy you have put into this deal. Just cut your losses, and walk
Remember the Kenny Rogers song "The Gambler". There's sometimes wisdom on the country and western station:-

Well, she has the coloring of a Basenji, and she can wrinkle yp her brow if she wants to. Perhaps her tail will curl unless she can overcome that tendency for "right ahead full rudder" purposes.
In any event, she is snuzzly and totally adorable. She can some visit in SLC anytime.
